D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) was founded in 1983 and since has been a positive force in our elementary classrooms. This officer-led program teaches children how to say no to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, bullying, and peer pressure. Officers who are certified as D.A.R.E. instructor must go through 80 hours of classroom and hands-on training in areas such as child development, classroom management, teaching techniques, and communication skills.
